Soccer - Really The World Game

Soccer: What terrific memories, thoughts and excitement that word generates. At this moment the world is in the throes of the World Championship of Football - yes, I call it football, because I believe it to be the only true "foot" ball game. Just imagine if you will the number of people who are tuning in to watch their country - if they have qualified, compete on the stage of the biggest sporting tournament the world has to offer. The great thing is that all nations hold some interest in this spectacle. It is something tangible from South America to Australia. From Asia through Europe to the United States.

Imagine if you will the passion of supporters of these nations, when they score a goal to either give them the advantage in a particular match, or even more thrilling the winning goal in the World Cup final itself!

OK, now we're in the mood of things, take into consideration that there are people on this planet who have little or no interest in this event or the build up to it. The folk to whom I refer, are those that pursue the pleasure of the other "football" codes on offer in this diverse world of ours.

Let me explain: We have a few other codes of football played worldwide. The United States have their own particular brand and in other countries Rugby League and Rugby Union are followed with a degree of passion, the latter reaching euphoric status in countries like New Zealand. There is another form of football played in Australia called Australian Rules football affectionately known as "footy", although I tend to dismiss this game as somewhat of a novelty sport, because it has never really been played worldwide and can't be compared favourably to the other codes as a spectacle, mainly because of lack of foresight from administrators. That doesn't mean to say that it doesn't have a strong following.

Let me say this first of all. Whichever of the ball games is your cup of tea, fine. I can live with that. It's just the title of your sport that I find somewhat odd. I have heard criticism of football - the real football I mean - making jibes about the ballet-type heading prowess of some of the players and the acting talents of some of its professional participants and, to a degree I cede to that.

But, facts are facts, irrefutable and concrete. This sport is the only football code that encourages the use and skill with the feet for its players. The word, my friends, is "football".

In all the other codes mentioned above, ninety per cent of the time the ball is held in the players' hands. OK so they kick it occasionally - very occasionally in the US version. Incidentally, there could be an argument for not calling that particular code "football" at all when you take into consideration they only call someone on to the playing arena as a specialist to actually kick the ball to either start a game or add "bonus" scoring points to a team's total.

Enough is enough. I could go on forever. Don't think we could ever get to a court of law with this one, because everyone will have their own opinion about their own favourite, but I reckon I've given a good argument for Soccer being the true and only Football.

The Evolution Soccer Games

With the confirmation that EA Sports is releasing "2010 FIFA World Cup" on April 27 franchises as "Sensible Soccer" and "International Superstar Soccer is far from forgotten. This article and the video was made only in appreciation and let you experience some of these games in the genre-defining. So far, in terms of progress in the football game FIFA 10 is probably the best football title around, even if a series of Pro Evolution Soccer (PES)-Fans have something to say. There have been a number of innovative titles in the past and others that are forgotten.

Sensible Soccer, Ultimate Soccer, Super Soccer 90 and Italy were some of the first songs that encapsulated football fans around the world. For me Italy is 90, which, despite a series of horrible margins can score with ease as a cross from the edge of the window every time it starts, but this was only a small hook at one> Game that I started a competitive advantage for the game at the tender age of five years ago with my brother. Brazil and Italy were necessarily the best team in the game, the eye profile has been interpreted by a bird. But overall, among my friends and the consensus among the wider community of players, Sensible Soccer was the king of the early game and created a indisputable dynasty. "Senses", topped charts as Amiga Power.

FIFA International Soccer was in July 1993 and movedwas in the 16-bit, and we know that the player was running away when the referee is given a yellow card for play does not resume until the referee pulled HIM, and this would lead to a direct red card for the account of an accident. Sensible World of Soccer was released in 1994 in a first game, when you try to include the entire management and the world of professional football in one game with career mode, both contain theRoles as well as numerous clubs and teams of countries, many of whom were a bit 'funny. Take nothing away from him, but these ten have made a list of the most important games of all time by The New York Times.

FIFA 96 undoubtedly represented the most progress in this category in 90 years, Silicon Graphics, players modeled using technology motion design animation. New moves, including passing, dribbling 02.01 fast, volleys, dummies, fakes, and nutmeg - the beginnings of modernGame. The game installed players with real attributes. FIFA 97 offers very little in terms of novelty, apart from driving, something I had hoped to re-surface for 13 years or so. Road to FIFA World Cup 1998 was next, and created a benchmark in terms of graphics and game for football games to follow, but is a concession for a time before EA Sports seems over, as it is today.

Personally speaking,International Superstar Soccer 64 (64 ISS) was the best football game of all time, and it is important to remember that N64 controller. He brought an authentic arcade feel to your bed and a competitive race inexplicable to your friends, each had to be the best. Realism was not because the game was good, the fact that the licenses do not want it, David Beckham was named Decham, Shearer was Shoar, none of them was a problem, just a little 'fun. Thefluid gameplay and the element of skill players made tangible a huge success. Does anyone remember the "Z" key to curling? You might zig-zag from left to right. ISS in 1998, soon followed and was equally high, but unfortunately there was no evidence of official evaluation.

This is football (TIF) represented in 2003 as an alternative to FIFA gameplay and has the potential, but in truth I would be crazy to sign for them or their successors, TIF have PES 2005 on all tracks, for me, I prefer the original game on these two PES. The franchise has died suddenly.

Pro Evolution Soccer 1,2,3,4,5 or 6, take a pick, they were all big and own. A continuation of that strong left ISS in 1998 controlled most of them fans of the genre for nearly a decade. Although it was missing, was in almost all licenses, FIFA has been fighting for freedom and fluidity of the match Pro Evolution series. PES had certain weaknesses, as a realistic> Game, but why should it be realistic? What was so great the condition of the players before a game, smile that shows what percentage of its potential a player could continue, this could affect your game, my style was all dribbling with very little passing, most unrealistic when I walk the last 10 players, but each had its own style of play. Some were hesitant and patients, some more full on attack and open-minded, otherswould sit down and play on the break, but it is so great that all styles of work. Can I put my neck on the line, but I think PES franchise has agreed to create the most intense competition among friends than any other game in history, or if they do not, but in football and that was very different how it was.

The resurgence of EA Sports has been most visible in FIFA 09, a game that heads made a lot of Pro Evo on. PES 6 and 2009Improve enough for the next generation of opportunities that arise. The simple truth is that EA Sports has finally broken pleasant, soft and challenging gameplay, and makes it difficult to be good, that's another thing that Konami was doing so well. The release of PES 2010 confirmed, but this change for me, yes, there are improvements in the game, but I shot, I never thought I would say one thing. The introduction of 360 Dribbling, new skills, formations,Licensing, graphic design, the team final and, above all, what is important in this day and every age, the strength of online games, missing much about PES

There you have it, the development of football games, and would say, were the Konami Charles Darwin, but EA Sports are the scientists who make the most progress in this genus.

If you do not agree in any way, if there is a game that deserves a mention, or if you want a game, do not hesitate. Comment

The Evolution of Soccer Games

With the confirmation that EA Sports are releasing "2010 FIFA World Cup" on April 27th, franchises like "Sensible Soccer" and "International Superstar Soccer" are all but forgotten about. This article and the accompanying video were done in pure appreciation and to let you relive some of those defining games of the genre. So far in terms of advancement in football games FIFA 10 is arguably the best football title around although a number of Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) fans would have something to say about that. There have been a number of ground-breaking titles in the past and others that are better forgotten about.

Sensible Soccer, Ultimate Soccer, Super Soccer & Italia 90 were some of the early titles that encapsulated football fans across the world. For me it was Italia 90 that started it despite a number of horrific glitches such as being able to score a cross from the edge of the box every time with ease, but this was only a minor hitch in a game which started competitive gaming for me at the tender age of five with my older brother. Brazil and Italy were inevitably the best teams on the game that was played from a birds eye view. But on the whole, amongst my friends and the consensus among the wider gaming community, Sensible Soccer was the king of the early days and created an undeniable dynasty in gaming. "Sensi" topped charts such as Amiga Power.

FIFA International Soccer was released July 1993 and moved football games into the 16 bit era, and famously the player could run away from the referee when being given a yellow card, however play would not resume until the referee caught up with him, and this would lead to a direct red card due to the incident. Sensible World of Soccer released in 1994 became a first in video games when it attempted to include the entire professional footballing world into a single title featuring career modes which included both player and management roles as well as numerous club and country teams, many of which were a bit odd. Take nothing away from it though, this even made a list of the top ten most important video games of all time by New York Times.

FIFA 96 represented undoubtedly the biggest advances in the genre in the 90s; Silicon Graphics, modeled players utilizing MotionDesign animation technology. New moves included 1-2 passing, fast dribble, volleys, dummies, fakes, and nutmegs - the beginnings of the modern day game. The game incorporated real players with real attributes. FIFA 97 offered very little in the way of novelty apart from the indoor arena, something I've been hoping to surface again for the past 13 years or so. FIFA Road to World Cup 98 was next and created a benchmark in graphics and gameplay for football games to follow, but it would be a long while before EA Sports would resurface as the top franchise as it is today.

Personally speaking, International Superstar Soccer 64 (ISS 64) was the best football game of all time, and it's important to mention the N64 controller. It brought an authentic arcade feel to your sofa and an unexplainable competitive streak amongst your friends, everyone had to be the best. Realism was not why this game was so good, the fact that it lacked licenses didn't matter, David Beckham was called Decham, Alan Shearer was Shoarer, none of this was an issue, merely something amusing. The fluid gameplay and the element of tangible skill amongst gamers made it a huge success. Anyone remember the "Z" button for curling? You could zig-zag left to right. ISS 98 soon followed and was equally highly rated although unfortunately there were still no official licenses.

This is Football (TIF) 2003 represented an alternative to more FIFA like gameplay and had potential, but in truth you would have been mad to have chosen this or its successor TIF 2005 over any PES titles, for me I would rather play the original PES over either of these. The franchise died abruptly.

Pro Evolution Soccer 1,2,3,4,5 or 6, take a pick, they were all magnificent in their own right. A strong continuation of what ISS 98 left behind, they controlled the majority of the fans of the genre for almost a decade. Even though it was still lacking in almost all the licenses, FIFA struggled to match the freedom and fluidity of the Pro Evolution series. Sure PES had it's flaws as a realistic game, but why should it have to be realistic? What also made it so great was the condition of the players prior to a game, the smiley faces indicating what percentage of his potential a player could perform at, this could affect your game! My style was all dribbling with very little passing; highly unrealistic when I would walk it past 10 players but everyone had their own style of playing. Some were tentative and patient, others more full on and attacking minded, others would sit back and play on the break, but the great thing is that all styles worked. I may be sticking my neck on the line, but I believe the PES franchise has created the most intense competition amongst friends than any other game in history, or if you don't agree, surely in football gaming, and a lot of that was down to how diverse it was.

The re-emergence of EA Sports was most apparent with FIFA 09, a game that made a lot of Pro Evo heads turn. PES 6 and 2009 didn't improve enough bearing in mind the next gen opportunities presented. The simple reality was that EA Sports had finally cracked enjoyable, smooth and sophisticated gameplay and with that making it hard to be good which is another thing that Konami did so well. The release of PES 2010 all but confirmed this shift for me, yes there are improvements in the game, but I've been turned, something I never thought I would say. The introduction of 360 dribbling, new usable skills, formations, the licenses, the graphics, ultimate team, and most of all, what is all important in this day and age, the strength of online play which PES severely lacks in.

There you have it, the evolution of football gaming, and it would have to be said Konami were the Charles Darwin, but EA Sports are the scientists who will make the biggest advances on this genre.

If you disagree in any way, if there is any game that deserves a mention or you want a game, feel free to comment.
